THE HELEN AND LEON SPERLING HOLOCAUST PROGRAM, TUESDAY APRIL 18, 730 P.M.

THE HELEN AND LEON SPERLING HOLOCAUST PROGRAM

The Helen and Leon Sperling Holocaust Program will be held Tuesday evening, April 18, 2023 at the Jewish Community Center, 2310 Oneida Street in Utica at 7:30. Our guest speaker will be Marione Ingram, a writer, artist and human rights activist. Born in Hamburg, Germany in the 30’s, Mrs. Ingram lived within the Holocaust. She felt the terror and desperation as she watched family members and thousands of Hamburg Jews deported to killing sites. What is it like, and what does it do to the psyche of a young child? It is a haunting story with many lessons.

This annual program honors Helen and Leon Sperling, both Holocaust survivors. Helen has left an indelible mark on the thousands of New York students and adults who listened to her speak. The program also honors the memory of all those who were hunted down and perished during the period of the Holocaust.

During the evening the winners of the Holocaust Essay Contest, open to students in local middle and high schools will be announced.

We invite you to share this evening with us. The program is free and open to all. It is suitable for students in the 7th grade and up. Please join us.
