Dinner-Movie Night begins at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, with a Middle Eastern dinner: hummus, tabbouli, salad, falafel, grape leaves and bread, plus fruit, dessert and beverages. After dinner, watch “The Jazz Singer.” In this updated, 115-minute film version of the Al Jolson classic, a fifth generation cantor, played by Neil Diamond, struggles to express himself through his own songs.He’s opposed by his tradition-bound father, played by Laurence Olivier, who believes his son is betraying his birthright. The movie features 10 songs composed and recorded live on film by Diamond.Admission to dinner and a movie is $15 for center members and $20 for nonmembers. Reservations are due by Thursday, Sept. 10.
