On Saturday, May 6, at 8 p.m., Brooklyn-based actor and playwright Arielle Beth Klein will appear at the Jewish Community Center of Utica to share her recently published play “My Shiksa Boyfriend.”

Originally performed as a solo show, just slightly off-Broadway, in the fall of 2022, this autobiographical play wrestles with some of the questions of Jews and Gentiles dating. Maybe you’re already thinking about this for your children or grandchildren.

Arielle will share her stories about dating, religion, and heritage growing up a conservative Jew whose grandmother was a Holocaust survivor. She questioned her faith and every thing she learned when she fell in love with a man who wasn’t Jewish. Her story is both funny and poignant and even includes a little bit of Yiddish. Broadway World says it will “brings a bold new look to growing up in religion as a millennial.”

Arielle is no stranger to the Mohawk Valley. She appeared in three of Shakespeare’s plays at Woodshill Theater in Sauquoit.
